Week of November 19-23
- A big welcome back to Ms. Stacey Flood! She will be returning to our class as our student teacher for one month! We are so excited to be having her back.
- A reminder that lunch money for the hot meals is due tom. Please try to have the money separated because they go to two different places.
- Grade 5's will be finishing their math test tom. on patterns and equations.
- A reminder to be reading 20 minutes each night. Parents, it would be beneficial to pull out the sheet of questions that I gave everyone at parent teacher to ask your son/daughter. You could pick one evening this week and ask one question from each category of questions (literal, inferential, or evaluative). Orally being able to answer comprehension questions is a very important skill. If they think it, they can say it. If they can say it, then they can write it. :o)
- I will be sending the book order home tom.
- Thank you to all of my students for handing in their science projects on Friday! I can tell they worked very hard.
- Report cards will be going home on Thursday, November 22.
- Have a great week everyone.

- A huge thank you to all parents who came in for parent teacher interviews on Wednesday evening and Thursday. I feel fortunate to be working with such a supportive group of parents! Thank you for all of your support at home.
- Report cards will be going home on Thursday, November 22.
- A reminder that our science projects are due on Friday, Novemeber 16. I have encouraged the students to be doing a little bit each night.
- Grade 5's will be finishing up their Patterns and Equations math unit at the end of this week or the first of next.
- This upcoming week is Bully Awareness Week. Friday is "Wear Pink Day" and I would encourage everyone to wear pink. We will be discussing how wearing pink to support this week came to be.
- Next Monday, November 19th, Ms. Flood will be returning to our class for one month. We are very excited to be having her join our class.
- Have a great week!

Week of Nov.5-7
- This week will be a short week due to parent teacher interviews on Novemeber 8 and a PD day on November 9. Also, there will be no school on Monday, Nov. 12 because of Remembrance Day.
- I am looking forward to meeting with everyone at interviews Wed. evening or Thur. day. If your child has not brought back your form to say whether you can/can't attend, please do so Mon.
- Monday is lunch order day for the month. There was also a new form sent home for hot lunches. This looks like a great opportunity for the kids. Please check the calendar that was attached to the letter for options and dates.
- I have assigned a Remembrance Day poster to be finished for Monday. All students started these in class and should be just finishing them up.
- We will be having a small matching quiz on Tuesday in Science on weather instruments.
- This is book fair week! We will be viewing the books on Monday morning and purchasing on Wednesday.

Week of Oct. 29-Nov.2
- I have to send out a huge "thank you" to all of my students for making my birthday last Thursday so memorable. They were so thoughtful and kind! The musical version of "Happy Birthday" brought tears to my eyes. I consider myself one of the luckiest teachers on PEI to have such a wonderful group of children in my class.
- I will be sitting with other teachers on Tuesday to plan out parent teacher interview times. The interviews will be held on Wednesday evening, November 7 and Thursday November 8. If you would like a certain time, please send a note in with your child on Monday.
- The grade 5 math students just started into Unit 1 called Patterns and Equations. I would still remind everyone that it is a good idea to be reviewing mental math facts each night. Our response time for 'x' facts should be 3 seconds or less and division facts should be 5 seconds or less.
- We have been working on Informational reports in language arts and will continue to work on them this week. The students have chosen a topic related to weather and we have been discussing the importance of text features (pictures, captions, headings, glossary, maps, tables, charts, bold print, italics, etc.). Students will include some of these text feature within their informational reports.
- Lunch order forms will be going home mid-week. Monday, Nov.5 will be lunch order day for the month of November.
- A reminder to be reading 20 minutes each night. Parents don't forget to be having conversations with your child about what it is they are reading.
- Happy Halloween to everyone! I will be meeting on Monday to get the specifics on what activities will be planned for Wednesday and I will discuss this with the students on Tuesday!
