Week of Sept. 17-21

  • Picture day is tom. Monday, Sept. 17th.
  • We are working on a book club called "Art Is..." in language arts.  The students are doing a great job contributing their thoughts, ideas, and opinions.  Each group will be reading a different non-fictional book on art.  The students will be responsible for completing a book review and they will be creating their own piece of art. I will be explaining both of these assignments and assigning a due date soon.
  • I would ask the Gr. 5 students to be reviewing their math facts each night. We are responsible for knowing up to 9X9 (we do go over the 10's and 11's too). We are also responsible for their related division facts.
  • All students should be reading 20 min. a night and logging it in their reading passports.
  • We have just completed the 500 most frequently used words in spelling/word work.  This week I will be discussing the Buddy Study program with the students.  Each student will have their own individual list of words to learn.
  • I am looking forward to seeing everyone Monday night at "Meet the Teacher" night! 6:30 p.m.
  • I placed the book order on Friday. It should be in by this Friday.
  • Have a great week everyone!

Week of Sept.10-14

  • Wow! What a great first week! Everyone was so excited to be back and our days flew by.  I love how much effort I am seeing from every student.
  • Meet the teacher will be held on Monday, September 17th at 6:30 and I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.
  • Just a reminder that all students should be reading 20 minutes each night.  Parents it is a great idea to talk to your children about what they have read.  This will increase their comprehension skills.  Studens have reading passports that parents initial (similar to the bookmarks from last year).
  • Lunch orders are due Monday morning for the month.
  • Book orders are due on Friday.
  • Please send back the student information forms if you have not already done so.
  • Have a great week!
