Week of Sept. 26-Sept. 30

* I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  I would like to take this opportunity to say what a great job the students did last Wednesday.  They were so well behaved and did exactly as they were told.  I am very lucky to teach at this amazing school!

*Grade 2-  We had our first spelling quiz on Thursday and it is going home tonight in the homework bag.  Please sign and return on Tuesday.  The students did a great job with their nightly reading last week.  Just remember to sign the red duotang on a nightly basis and they will get a sticker the next day.

Grade 3 Math-  Please continue to practice adding and subtracting facts each night.  This is their homework and they are located in the back of the homework agenda.  We will be having a quiz on Friday that will be on representing numbers to 1000 and comparing and ordering numbers.

Grade 4 Math-  Please continue to practice adding and subtracting facts each night.  They are set up on a really neat website to practice these if they have access to a computer at home.  If not, the facts are located in the back of the homework agenda.  We will be having a quiz on representing numbers to 10 000 and comparing and ordering numbers on Friday.

Have a great week everyone!

Week of Sept. 19-22

  • I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  Just a reminder that there will be no school on Friday, Sept. 23.
  • Gr. 2-  I am sending home a letter tom. with the students explaining our at home reading routines and our spelling routines.  Please be sure to read through the letter and if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me at school or by email at klmullins@edu.pe.ca.  In a nutshell, the students will have a red duotang that I would like you to keep track of their nightly reading.  They will have their nightly reading books in their homework bag for the week.  The spelling list will always be in their agenda on Mondays and we will be working with these words throughout the week with a quiz on Friday (Thursday this week).
  • Gr. 3 Math-  It is very important for the students to be reviewing their adding and subtracting facts to 18 each night.  The dollar store is a great spot to pick up flashcards to have at home for this nightly practice.  We are continuing to work on representing numbers to 1000 and comparing/ordering numbers to 1000 throughout the week.
  • Gr. 4 Math-  Please have your children reviewing all adding and subtracting facts to 18 at night for their homework.  This is all that I am asking them to do for homework for now.  Mastery of these facts is so important before we start our adding/subtracting numbers to 10 000.    This week we are continuing to work on representing numbers to 10 000 and comparing/ordering numbers to 10 000.
  • I will be sending home a letter with my gr.3 and 4 math students explaining a math site called xtramath.org.  This is a site I have the students on at school and it is for mastering all adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing facts.  It is free and is great practice.
  • Have a wonderful week everyone!

Week of Sept.12-16

  • I would like to welcome everyone to my blog!  I will be doing my best to update it each Sunday (this week on Tuesday night:o).  Please check on a weekly basis!
  • Gr. 2 Lang. Arts-  I am having such a great week with your children.  They have such great manners and are working hard.  We have been discussing the theme of friendship and what makes a good friend.  Be sure to check the blog by Sunday because I will be explaining the homework routines that will be starting Monday, Sept. 19.
  • Grade 4 Math-  I am over the moon with excitement to be teaching these students again!  I can't believe how they have grown over the summer.  This week I am encouraging them to practice their math facts nightly.  I will be sending home a letter next week explaining a math site that they can play at home for homework.  My daughters are both on it and it is super! I will explain more on the blog update on Sunday.  We have been working with our first outcome which is representing numbers to 10 000.   They have been practicing base ten pictures/words, expanded form, written and standard form of numbers.
  • Grade 3 Math-  Please have your children be practicing their math facts nightly.  I have enjoyed getting to know everyone this week.  I will be sending home a letter next week explaining a fun online math program that we will be using at school and students can use at home.  We have been working on our first outcome which is representing numbers to 1000.  This means students must read numbers, draw base ten pictures, use expanded form, and put the words in writing.
  • Have a great rest of the week!
