Week of October 11-14th

  • I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

* Grade 2- Reading: Read for 15-20 minutes each evening.  Please continue to discuss with your  child what they have read, to ask questions about their reading
  • Note:  When you listen to your child read orally, please make sure that they are “reading” the punctuation.
    *  When your child comes to an end of a sentence, does it sound like the end of a sentence or do they keep reading through the period as if it isn’t there?
    *  When there is a question mark at the end of a sentence, does your child change their voice to make it sound like a question?
    *  When there are “quotation marks”, does your child change their voice to indicate that someone is speaking?
    *  When there is an exclamation mark (!) at the end of the sentence, does your child change their voice to indicate excitement or a change in voice volume?
  • Grade 3 math- We have been working on skip counting forwards and backwards by 10, 5, 25, 100, and are starting to count by 3's and 4's to 1000.  We start from various points.  For ex. 61, 71, 81 etc. We will also be continuing our work on illustrating place value and math facts to 18.  These outcomes will be our focus for the month of October.  Homework will be practice math facts & skip counting nightly.
  • Grade 4 math- Please continue to review the addition/subtraction math facts to 18 on a nightly basis.  We will soon be shifting to our multiplication and division facts. We are continuing to work this week on adding/subtracting 4 digit numbers to 10 000.
  • Have a great week everyone.
